Description
The R4LD is a left-angled piezo tip from the Piezomed Extraction and Bone Surgery Set from W&H. It is used for atraumatic osteotomy in the posterior tooth region. The Piezomed system is designed for bone surgery, periodontology, extractions, retrograde endodontics, and lateral sinus lift. The generator automatically detects the inserted instrument and sets the corresponding power group.
Indications
Atraumatic extractions in the maxilla and mandible, primarily for complex root situations in the posterior tooth region where a left-angled approach is required. Bone removal and bone modeling in oral and maxillofacial surgery, for example for osteotomy or osteoplasty on posterior segments. Supplementing existing piezosurgical extraction sets (R1D, R2RD, R2LD, R3D, R4RD, R4LD), if a targeted left-angled access is needed.
Contraindications
Not for use in patients for whom piezosurgery is fundamentally contraindicated, for example due to lack of consent, absolute surgical contraindications, or uncontrolled coagulation disorders. Not to be used on highly unstable teeth where minimally invasive osteotomy offers no therapeutic added value and simple luxation is sufficient. Not to be used on bone areas where the required safety distance to neural or vascular structures cannot be surgically maintained; this applies despite the selective cutting characteristics of piezosurgery.
Clinical benefit
The R4LD is suitable for gentle root mobilization and targeted bone removal in the posterior region when a left-angled instrument improves access. The automatic instrument recognition of the Piezomed simplifies operation and limits overloading of the tip. This extends the life of the instrument and supports process reliability in the surgical workflow.
