    Description

    Luxcryl PGA

Synthetic absorbable suture made from braided polyglycolic acid multifilaments for maximum surgical precision

    Optimal Thread Structure

The braided and coated multifilament design offers excellent handling properties. The special polycaprolactone and calcium stearate (1%) coating ensures smooth passage through tissue and prevents a sawing effect.

    Predictable Absorption

Thanks to controlled hydrolytic degradation, Luxcryl PGA retains 70% of its original tensile strength after 14 days and approximately 50% after 21 days. Complete absorption occurs after 60-90 days – ideal for medium-term wound support.

    Excellent Visibility

The violet color guarantees optimal visibility during surgical procedures – even in demanding anatomical regions. Alternatively, Luxcryl PGA is also available in an undyed (beige) version.

    Versatile Applications

    • General surgery
    • Skin closure
    • Gastrointestinal surgery
    • Gynecology & Obstetrics
    • Plastic surgery
    • Urology
    • Ophthalmic surgery
    • Orthopedics

    Absorption Profile at a Glance

Highest Quality for Optimal Healing Outcomes

Luxcryl PGA combines excellent handling properties with reliable absorption kinetics. The precise calculation of tensile strength loss allows for optimal tissue support during the critical healing phase. Minimal tissue reaction and the special coating promote uncomplicated healing – for excellent functional and aesthetic results in a variety of surgical procedures.

    Pros and cons

    • General Surgical Applications:
    • Soft tissue closure
    • ligatures in all surgical disciplines
    • Subcutaneous
    • intradermal suturing techniques
    • Skin closure with appropriate support
    • Mucosal adaptation
    • fixation of various tissue layers
    • Specific fields of application according to product sheet:
    • General surgery
    • Skin closure
    • Gastrointestinal surgery
    • Plastic surgery
    • Ophthalmologic surgery
    • Gynecology
    • Obstetrics
    • Orthopedics
    • Urology
    • Special strengths for dental
    • maxillofacial surgery:
    • Soft tissue management in implantology
    • Periodontal surgical procedures
    • Operative soft tissue management
    • Reconstructive procedures in the oral cavity
    • Fixation of tissue areas with constant stress
    • Clinical advantages:
    • Suitable for areas with increased risk of infection due to minimal tissue reaction
    • Ideal for patients with limited follow-up options (no suture removal necessary)
    • Excellent for areas with high aesthetic demands
    • Optimized for single-stage procedures without the need for subsequent suture removal
    • Special properties compared to Luxcryl PGA
    • Luxcryl 910 differs in its copolymer structure (90% glycolide
    • 10% L-lactide)
    • which gives it a slightly different absorption profile. The material offers:
    • Improved initial strength retention (75% after 14 days compared to 70% for PGA)
    • Slightly shortened total absorption time (56-70 days compared to 60-90 days for PGA)
    • Special coating (poly-glycolide-co-L-lactide
    • calcium stearate)
    • Uniform violet coloration (while PGA is also available uncolored)
    • Slightly extended USP size range (8/0 - 2
    • while PGA ranges from 10/0 - 2)
    • These properties make Luxcryl 910 particularly suitable for applications that require precisely calculable absorption kinetics
    • where a slight acceleration of the absorption process compared to pure PGA is advantageous.
