    Description

    Luxcryl 910

Advanced resorbable suture made of Polyglactin 910 for precise surgical procedures with optimal wound healing

    Modern Copolymer Technology

Luxcryl 910 is made of Polyglactin 910, an advanced synthetic copolymer composed of 90% Glycolide and 10% L-Lactide. This combination ensures an optimal balance between handling characteristics and resorption behavior. The special poly-glycolide-co-L-lactide and calcium stearate coating (<1%) minimizes tissue drag and improves gliding properties.

    Superior Handling

The braided multifilament structure in combination with the special coating provides excellent handling characteristics. Luxcryl 910 glides smoothly through tissue, offers excellent knot security, and allows for precise work even in demanding surgical situations.

    Controlled Resorption

Through hydrolytic action, the material is gradually broken down, leading to complete resorption between 56 and 70 days. At 14 days, 75% of the original tensile strength remains, and at 21 days, approximately 50% is retained.

    Optimal Visualization

The uniform violet coloration ensures excellent visibility during the surgical procedure and facilitates precise placement in all tissue areas.

    Pros and cons

    • General Surgical Applications:
    • Soft tissue closure
    • ligatures in all surgical disciplines
    • Subcutaneous
    • intradermal suture techniques
    • Skin closure with adequate support
    • Mucosal adaptation
    • fixation of various tissue layers
    • Specific fields of application according to product data sheet:
    • General Surgery
    • Skin Closure
    • Gastrointestinal Surgery
    • Plastic Surgery
    • Ophthalmological Surgery
    • Gynecology
    • Obstetrics
    • Orthopedics
    • Urology
    • Special strengths for dental
    • oral
    • maxillofacial surgery:
    • Soft tissue management in implantology
    • Periodontal surgical procedures
    • Operative soft tissue management
    • Reconstructive procedures in the oral cavity
    • Fixation of tissue areas with constant stress
    • Clinical advantages:
    • Suitable for areas with increased risk of infection due to minimal tissue reaction
    • Ideal for patients with limited follow-up options (no suture removal necessary)
    • Excellent for areas with high aesthetic demands
    • Optimized for single-stage procedures without the need for subsequent suture removal
    • Special properties compared to Luxcryl PGA
    • Luxcryl 910 differs due to its copolymer structure (90% glycolide
    • 10% L-lactide)
    • which gives it a slightly different absorption profile. The material offers:
    • Improved initial strength retention (75% after 14 days compared to 70% for PGA)
    • Slightly reduced total absorption time (56-70 days compared to 60-90 days for PGA)
    • Special coating (poly-glycolide-co-L-lactide
    • calcium stearate)
    • Uniform violet coloration (while PGA is also available undyed)
    • Slightly expanded USP size range (8/0 - 2
    • while PGA ranges from 10/0 - 2)
    • These properties make Luxcryl 910 particularly suitable for applications that require precisely calculable absorption kinetics
    • where a slight acceleration of the absorption process compared to pure PGA is advantageous.
