Description
Chirmax Chirasorb Plus
Absorbable surgical suture material – Antibacterial-coated Polyglactin-910 analog. Braided copolymer (90% glycolide / 10% L-lactide) with antibacterial coating of glycolide-lactide copolymer, calcium stearate, and chlorhexidine diacetate. Suture color of this version: violet.
Properties
- Chlorhexidine diacetate is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens (membrane disruption)
- Absorption kinetics like Chirasorb: 75%/50% after 14/21 days
- Coating with calcium stearate for optimal knot security
- Note: the antibacterial component is chlorhexidine – not triclosan
Tensile Strength Retention
- Day 1 – 100%
- Day 14 – 75%
- Day 21 – 50%
- Mass absorption – 56–70 days (complete mass absorption)
Indications
- Soft tissue adaptation and ligatures in all surgical disciplines
